I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
The Town of Blooming Grove, which surrounds Washingtonville, runs the Tappan Homes water district off Barnes Road. The district's water broke the state chloride limit in the second half of 2025, and the district's report says high chloride wears out home plumbing and water heaters. The district's wells had failed state standards for chloride and manganese even before that. If the house is on Tappan Homes water, ask the seller how old the water heater is.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
The Oxford Park district was cited for using an unapproved water source from 2020 to 2025, and it did not test for lead and copper from 2022 through 2024. Ask the seller whether the house is in Oxford Park.
The town's four water districts are small well systems serving roughly 1,200 people in all, each from its own wells. Sodium in their 2025 water ranged from 31.2 to 116 mg/L, all above the 20 mg/L level New York flags for very low-sodium diets. Ask which district serves the address.
A 2013 village law set each sewer bill at 150% of the water bill, and the village board can change that rate. Ask the seller for a year of bills.
The village sewer plant has been under a state consent order, a binding agreement with the state, to cut groundwater and stormwater leaking into its sewer pipes. Ask the seller whether sewer work has been done on the street.
