I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
Walden's public wells sit in the Town of Montgomery. The state rates them as medium to medium-high risk for germs and nitrates, partly because of nearby septic systems. A home on Village of Walden water drinks from those wells. Ask the seller whether the house is on Walden village water.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
About 4 in 10 Town of Montgomery basements tested above 4 pCi/L, the EPA's action level, in the state's 2007 survey, which is now more than ten years old. That was above the Orange County figure of 34%, and the Town of Crawford came in at about 1 in 4. Ask the seller when the house last had a radon test.
Village of Montgomery water carried 35.5 to 91 mg/L of sodium in 2025, traced to road salt. Check the village's yearly water report for the newest sodium reading.
The town's Lake Vue Park water district runs on a single 200-foot rock well, and natural manganese in it discolors the water. The town's 2025 water report says it expects funding for a new well and filtration. Run the tap at the showing and look at the color.
The Pine Bush Water District in Crawford went over the manganese limit in January 2025. In January 2026 it told customers it does not yet know what some service lines are made of, and some may be lead. Ask the seller whether the Pine Bush district has said what the house's service line is made of.
