What Our Clients Say About Their Inspections

  • Mirtha Martinez

I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Filtering PFAS From New Windsor's Kroll Well

Town of New Windsor water comes mainly from the Catskill Aqueduct, with the Kroll Well and three Butterhill wells added in. The Kroll Well's untreated water carries PFAS, the forever chemicals, at the state limit, so it runs through a carbon filter. Ask the seller whether the house runs its own filter on the tap water.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

On a backup, the town checks its own line for free. A problem in the homeowner's line is the owner's to fix. A 2018 state-funded flood study reported groundwater and rain leaking into the town's sewer pipes, which can push sewage into basements in heavy rain. Ask the seller whether the basement has ever backed up.

Silver Stream backs up at the culvert carrying it under Blooming Grove Turnpike and floods Old Forge Hill Road, the Olde Forge Apartments, and Kingswood Gardens. Check how close the house sits to that culvert before you settle on a price.

The town did not test the Butterhill wells for PFOA and PFOS, two of the forever chemicals, in the third quarter of 2025 because the wells were offline, and it was cited for a monitoring violation. Read the town's next report for the Butterhill results.

Moodna Creek is mapped to leave its banks by Butterhill Park and flood the road just north of Staples Lane in a 100-year flood, a flood with a 1% chance of happening in any year. Find out where the house sits relative to Staples Lane.
