I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
In 2014, well water from the Sugar Loaf Hills water district in Chester measured 760 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) for radon. That is a reading of the water, so it cannot be compared with the 4 pCi/L level used for indoor air. That reading is now more than ten years old. If the house you want is in Sugar Loaf Hills, find out from the seller whether its water was ever tested for radon.

Five small water districts run by the town serve Chester: Walton Lake Estates, Surrey Meadows, Lake Hill Farms, Sugar Loaf Hills, and Fieldcrest. A home outside them may be on Village of Chester water or its own well. Check the seller's water bill to see which supply serves the house.
No. The village's water went over the limit for two chlorine by-products in the third and fourth quarters of 2025. The village's report says its October results were back within the limit, but the quarter's results taken together were still over the limit. Read the village's next yearly report when it comes out.
The Walton Lake Estates wells carry heavy iron and manganese, so the town district runs a greensand filter, a sand filter that takes those metals out. In early 2025 the district was cited for not sending in its iron and manganese test results. Ask the seller whether the district has sent in its iron and manganese results since then.
The village's main supply is filtered surface water, backed by a well treated for iron and manganese. PFAS, the forever chemicals, turned up in July 2025 at low levels, under the state limit. Ask the seller whether the house is on village water.
