I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
On July 9, 2023, after 5 to 8 inches of rain fell in the area, the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Emergency that named Cornwall-on-Hudson. Ask the seller whether any water came into the house that day.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
In the state's 2007 survey, now more than ten years old, 40% of Town of Cornwall basements tested over 4 pCi/L, the EPA's action level. The county figure was 34%, and the Town of Highlands figure was 51%. Count a possible radon fix in your budget until you know the house's own level.
Town of Cornwall homes on the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson water system paid $16 per 1,000 gallons in 2025, against $12 inside the village. Put that gap into your monthly budget for the house.
In 2025, all of the village system's water came from the Taylor Road wells in Mountainville. A January 2024 sample of that water measured 33 mg/L of sodium, and PFAS, the forever chemicals, turned up under New York's limits in October 2025. Ask the seller whether the house is on the village system or a well.
A 2022 Town of New Windsor notice warned that its hydrant flushing could discolor the water in Firthcliffe Heights, in the Town of Cornwall, so homes there likely get New Windsor water rather than village water. Check which system serves the address before you read a water report.
