I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

Questions
No single finding tops every list, but water getting into the house is a serious one. Stains, soft spots, and damp basements can point to leaks that lead to rot over time. Slow drains are a separate warning sign, and a sewer camera inspection can look inside the drain line leaving the house.
Most home inspections take about two to three hours on site. You are welcome to come along and ask questions, though it is not required. The written report follows once the inspection is done.
The price depends on the size and age of the home and on any tests you add. Fixr's January 2025 cost guide puts a New York home inspection at $350 to $450, before added services such as radon testing or well water testing. Get a free quote for the home you have in mind.
A home inspection is a visual look at the parts of the house that can be reached, so it does not open walls or move stored belongings. New York law also leaves radon and pests out, which is why a radon test and a termite inspection are separate. An inspection is also not an appraisal.
New York requires the written report within five business days of the inspection. Under the state's rules, the report also lists which systems were looked at and notes anything that could not be seen, with the reason.
