I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the city's 2025 water testing, PFOA, one of the forever chemicals, averaged 8.9 parts per trillion, with one reading as high as 22, against a limit of 10. No violation was recorded, and the city took confirmation samples in 2026. The same tests found eight other forever chemicals the state does not regulate. Check whether the 2026 confirmation samples came back under the limit.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
The city's certificate of occupancy inspection requires fire-rated drywall, called Type X, above fuel-burning appliances such as a furnace in the basement. It also looks for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. If the house needs a city certificate of occupancy, look at the ceiling over the furnace before the city's inspection.
The city runs its own water system, fed by the Wiccopee Reservoir in Kent through Peekskill Hollow Creek and treated at the Campfield Reservoir plant. A house on city water gets this treated surface water, so it needs no private well test.
City tap water carried 60.7 mg/L of sodium in 2025, about three times the 20 mg/L level New York flags for people on very low-sodium diets. Weigh that reading if anyone at home is on a low-sodium diet.
A city sewer project announced in 2023, with a state grant, set out to separate street storm drains from the sewer pipes to cut the flow to the treatment plant. Ask the seller whether the basement has ever backed up in heavy rain.
