I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

Chuck was amazing. Meeting him for the first time he demonstrated a great deal of knowledge with home inspections. He explained what he was looking at. What was problematic and of no concern. He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
Four Town of Monroe water districts buy their water from the village. In 2025, three of them broke the state limit for TTHMs, by-products of disinfecting the water. Those three are High Ridge, Sky View, and Pine Tree. Buyers in those districts can read the results in each district's yearly water report on the town's website.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
Village of Monroe water comes from the Mombasha Lake reservoir and Well 4. The village system itself reported no violations in 2025; the 2025 TTHM violations were in three of the four town districts that buy its water. Ask the seller whether the house is on village or town district water.
Village Well 4 is tainted by road salt, with sodium at 95.6 mg/L and chloride at 198 mg/L in 2025. Anyone on a low-salt diet should ask the seller about a filter at the kitchen tap.
As of June 2024, the Harriman plant that treats Monroe sewage was at or near capacity. New construction in some areas could not connect until stormwater upgrades were done. If you plan to build or add on, expect that a new sewer connection may have to wait.
The Sterling Manor wells, west of West Mombasha Road, run close to the radioactivity limit. In 2024 they tested 13.7 pCi/L of gross alpha, a measure of radioactivity, against a limit of 15, and 12.4 µg/L of uranium against 30. The radioactivity reading sits close to its limit, so weigh it before you buy there.
