I just had a home inspection with Chuck, and he was great. He was very thorough and explained everything clearly as he went through the house. He answered all my questions, pointed out things I wouldn't have noticed, and even offered to look up additional info afterward. He made the process easy to understand and much less stressful. I'd definitely recommend Chuck to anyone buying a home.

Chuck is great to work with. He's inspected two houses my husband and I have offered on and his report saved us from investing in a home with serious water problems in the basement, and helped us feel reassured about the second home we offered on. He's also taught me a lot, and as a new homeowner, that's especially valuable! Thanks Chuck!

Chuck is amazing! First time meeting him and it felt like you knew him forever! Replied quickly and was able to get me within short notice. Did a septic inspection for me and was very knowledgeable within the field. Would highly recommend him to anyone doing a home/septic inspection.

He took his time and was very thorough. He answered all the questions we had and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole inspection.

As first-time home buyers, we really appreciated how thorough Chuck was with our inspection. He explained everything in detail, answered all of our questions, and made the process easy to understand. He even got us scheduled the very next day after we called. Highly recommend Above Grade Home Inspections!

In the Area
Town figures from 2013, now more than ten years old, put only about 15% of the Town of Cortlandt on central sewer, with the rest on septic. Close to 90% of the town had town water, so a house can have a public water line and still have its own septic tank. Ask the seller when the tank was last pumped and for any repair records.

Questions
Home inspection, septic system inspection, radon testing, well water testing, sewer camera inspection, underground utility locating, termite inspection, and chimney inspection.
Yes, 2013 town planning records, now more than ten years old, put the Mt. Airy Road section on private wells. Ask the seller whether the house has a well or town water.
The Furnace Woods project replaces failing septic systems by letting about 135 Cortlandt Manor properties join the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District. Ask the seller whether the house is part of the project and whether it has connected yet.
Yes, part of the Town of Cortlandt drains to the New Croton Reservoir, a New York City water supply. Check whether the house sits in that drainage area before you plan any septic work.
Yes, the Cortlandt Consolidated Water District draws mainly on New York City's Catskill Aqueduct, and the water is filtered and disinfected. Peekskill's supply and Yorktown's Amawalk supply are its backups. PFOA and PFOS, two forever chemicals, were not detected in the main supply in 2025. Ask the seller whether the house is on district water.
